The Rookie Lifeguard award scheme is a joint venture by the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) & Swim England (formerly known as the ASA) to enable more advanced swimmers to use their skills in a new and exciting way.

Within the scheme children and teenagers learn a range of valuable skills such as personal survival, pool lifeguard and open water lifeguard skills.

Children must be 8 years and over to join the scheme and must pass a water test first (or be level Top Squad & above if you already swim with us).

The water test consists of 2 good lengths breaststroke, 2 good lengths frontcrawl  and a shallow dive.

Please note that children will require a swim school uniform hat during lessons and need a long sleeved top and trousers (or skirts). Also, they will not be allowed to wear goggles during these sessions.

The scheme is run on a Wednesday evening at The Ockendon Academy, South Ockendon @ 7.45 - 8.15pm
